 Creative North Yorkshire has put together a training programme tailored for creatives in York & North Yorkshire. The STEPS TO SUCCESS training programme is designed to help creative professionals achieve a range of goals, including how to apply for grant funding and help to promote and market yourself effectively. ________________________________________

Make a Website in a Day If you don’t already have a website or are paying too much to have it done for you, this workshop will help you create one, step by step. It will provide guidance on how to use a template website builder to make your own website and advice on basic web design to make your website clear and easy to navigate. There will also be help on acquiring your own domain name. Bring along text and images you want to use for your new website and you can leave the workshop with a website that’s live to public, promoting you and what you do.

Social Media Marketing for Beginners This is a beginners workshop on using social media to promote your work and projects you’re involved in. We’ll help you create a facebook page and/or twitter account and show you how to make the best of it to attract a new audience for your work and keep your existing clients and audience up to date on what you’re doing.

When: Thursday 1 Dec, 9.30am – 1pm Where: Tyro Training, Crescent House, Keighley Road, Skipton BD23 2LP Who: France-Leigh and Jacqui Corcoran will be running this workshop, sharing their experience in using social media for their own professional projects, they are both project co-ordinators for Chrysalis Arts. Cost: £10

Making a Funding Application This session is for artists and creative professionals wishing to apply for funding for a specific project, period of professional development or body of work. The first half of the session will specifically show you how to make an Arts Council England, Grants for the Arts application and also help you to locate other potential funding sources. The second half of the session will be a workshop where you will have the opportunity to discover what makes a strong application and discuss your own project. When: Friday 25 Nov, 9.30am – 1pm Where: Milton Rooms, Market Place, Malton YO17 7LX Who: Jacqui Corcoran is running this workshop. She was formerly Assistant Officer for Literature & Media at Arts Council England, Yorkshire; Jacqui also ran funding application workshops as part of her work at ACE. Cost: £10

When: Monday 20 Feb, 9.30am – 1pm Where: The Art Depot, Asquith Ind Estate, Eshton Road, Gargrave BD23 3SE Who: Jacqui Corcoran Cost: £10 ________________________________________

Marketing for Creatives This session is specifically designed for artists and creative professionals who would like to increase the reach, impact and potential income from their work. The session will give you practical advice to help you develop a marketing strategy. You will learn how to present yourself and your work, place your work in the market, find new audiences and approach potential outlets such as venues or galleries.

When: Wednesday 7 Dec, 9.30am – 1pm Where: The Art Depot, Asquith Ind Estate, Eshton Road, Gargrave BD23 3SE Who: Emily Penn is running this workshop. She is the Rural Cinema Project Manager at the National Media Museum and is an experienced consultant, educator and facilitator for the cultural sector.
